Compress a PDF to 100KB or Less
HandoutPress rebuilds every PDF page as a compact image until the file fits strict limits — all in your browser, no upload, no signup. The tool below is preset to the Standard (1.0x) smallest-size preset: drop your file, press Compress, and download a PDF that clears 100KB portals.
100KB is the ceiling on many government portals, scholarship forms and mail gateways — and quality-based compressors rarely get there. Rasterizing does, by trading a selectable text layer for a guaranteed final size, which is exactly the trade-off these forms demand.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why can't I select text after compressing?
To guarantee a hard size ceiling, every page is rendered to an image and rebuilt. Text becomes part of the picture, so selecting and searching are no longer possible. If you only need a moderate size cut, use a text-preserving compressor instead.
Will every PDF actually reach 100KB?
Most text documents do; photo-heavy or very long scanned files may land slightly above. If the result is still over the limit, delete the pages you don't need first, then re-run at the Standard preset.
Is quality-based compression better?
It depends on the goal. Quality-based compression keeps text selectable but cannot promise a final size. Target-size rasterization guarantees the ceiling at the cost of the text layer — the right trade-off for forms and portals with hard limits.
What does “Standard (1.0x)” mean?
It is the render-resolution preset. Standard produces the smallest files; HD and Ultra HD keep more detail but output larger files. This page locks the preset to Standard.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. Compression runs entirely in your browser — the file never leaves your device.
